let’s take a look at the kind of videos you cannot post on the platform to avoid getting your content or channel demonetized.
Do not post videos that:
Decide on a niche you would like to focus on,
You can watch more videos to help you decide which niche is better for you,
You can also decide by making a list of what you like to do and then enter that keyword in YouTube to help you get an idea of what kind of videos other YouTubers in that niche are making.
Brand your channel by choosing your color, design pattern, video style, etc
that suit your brand’s image and the image your brand is trying to portray to your clients.
Branding your channel helps you establish industrial authority on YouTube
and help people take your content more seriously because they think it’s coming from a reputable source.
It’s better to start from scratch when starting a YouTube channel,
brand your channel right from the beginning and keep updating it to make sure it doesn’t become outdated or obsolete.
You need to study your target audience to know what kind of videos to make and how well it suits your audience,
you need to find out their gender, age range, geographical location, and overall engagement,
to help you decide the kind of content they like and how your video can best fit their needs.
Choose the software you would like to use in editing your videos,
I recommend Adobe premier,
But it might be a little too advanced and more expansive than other video editing software, in this case,
You might want to use some free or simple video editing apps.
As with any other business, the key to growing it is to follow a disciplined and consistent plan,
this helps you to keep going and not give up, keep posting awesome content,
and improving on your YouTube SEO to get more growth over time.
Before you start creating lots and lots of videos and posting them on YouTube,
You need to remember that if you make videos about what you personally like and not what people are searching for, nobody will watch them or even if they wanted to watch them,
Nobody can find them because nobody is searching for you, yet,
The guide to being successful on YouTube is to find out the most searched keywords relating to your niche and then make videos based on them,
This technique is known as Keyword Research.
To get started,
Make a list of keywords pertaining to your nice and type them into google one after the other without pressing enter.
You will notice that YouTube automatically suggests more keywords based on what you have typed and videos for every keyword.
Then choose the first suggestion you get from google based on the keyword you entered and make a video about it.
For example if i was in the SEO niche, and i typed the keyword “google SEO” into YouTube’s Search Bar, here are the suggestions i will get.
Now you have got your keyword, but that just isn’t enough,
The keyword “Google SEO“, maybe widely searched for, but since you are new to YouTube, your channel will not have a chance in competing with other established channels for who ranks for that keyword “Google SEO“.
That’s usually where keyword research tools come in,
They show you which keywords have a low SEO competition and high search volume on YouTube so that even if you are a smaller channel, you can rank for that keyword.
At the moment, YouTube doesn’t have an official keyword planner,
So you can use the Google keyword planner to do your research or you can use more advanced and premium tools like Ahrefs.
Getting your videos to be shown to users is one thing, getting your users to click on your videos is another.
Your videos might contain some useful content and value, but if it has an ugly thumbnail,
The truth is no one will click on it, and the more your video is skipped over in the suggestions,
YouTube will think your video doesn’t meet the viewers requirements and stop recommending it to them.
Create thumbnails that stand out, and fully discloses the information in your video by using bold letters.
For example, let’s take a look at the Backlinko YouTube channel by Brian Dean
Notice the branding of the channel with the colors black and green and how the video thumbnail carry the brand name and video title with his preferred keyword in them?
People pay attention to the videos more because..
If people watch your videos on YouTube without skipping through it, it tells YouTube the following…
This way, google recommends that video to more people searching for that keyword.
So make sure that your content is interesting, has value and meets the users requirements to avoid people skipping through it.
Always remind people to like, comment, share and subscribe to your videos because they will forget to do so if you don’t, some users prefer to remind people to do so at the beginning of their content while others do it at the end of the video.
Any way you do it is okay, just make sure that you are doing it.
Just like Google sees posts with more than 2000 plus words as having more value, YouTube views videos with longer duration the same way.
Hey now, I don’t mean you should keep talking even if you have nothing to say on your videos,
that will make your videos boring and send your viewers running for the hills,
am just saying that if you have an opportunity to provide more value in a video, do it.
After keyword research, here are the following places to use your chosen keyword.
Using your keywords this way tells the YouTube algorithm that this is what your video is about and helps suggest your video to users searching for videos on that particular keyword.
The most important part about how to make money on YouTube is promotion,
Just like Google, YouTube reads other social signals outside of its channels to help decide which video is ranked higher.
So take time to promote you videos on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and even go as far as creating pinterest pins for your videos if you want to get really serious.
Embed your videos in your blog posts and encourage people to share the videos to their friends etc.
The more your video is shared,
It helps YouTube know that people love your content and it helps them recommend it more to other people.
