Quit A Job You Hate

Knowing how to quit a job you hate is never an easy task,

You might be stuck at a job that you hate and still find it difficult to leave.

In life we find ourselves in a lot of uncomfortable situations,

One very unfortunate situation that you can find yourself in is working at a job that you hate

You can’t quit a job you hate because you need the money or maybe because you are in debt,

You have huge responsibilities, or probably because you feel that you won’t be able to find another job.

So many of these reasons make it almost impossible to quit a job you hate,

It makes you feel like you are stuck in that job,

Which is what will probably happen unless you decide to do something about it.

So if you are wondering how to quit a job you hate , let’s get started…..

Top 5 Reasons Why You Still Can’t Quit Your Job

1. You Have No Savings To Use After You Quit A Job You Hate

Lady Anxious at Work | Quit a job you hate

The typical individual works day to day waiting for the end of the month for their salary,

They have to pay off all their debts, meet all pending emergencies, and plan for the next month.

With this type of financial plan,

It is almost impossible to save enough money to be able to quit your job or even sustain you after you have quit your job

You need to understand that even if you quit your job today or you are let go from your job,

you will still have expenses, responsibilities, and emergencies.

And you will not be able to meet any of these needs if you have no savings,

When I say savings, I don’t just mean a few bucks,

You need a good amount of money that will enable you to stand on your feet for at least 6 months after you have quit your job.

Money that you can use to eat, get a place to live temporarily

and also bear the expenses you need to run around for a new job opportunity or business depending on the one that you choose.

If you really hate your job as much as you say that you do,

the time you spend working there shouldn’t be used to complain about said job every 5 mins that you get.

Use that time wisely to plan and strategize on how to get out from there,

Create a “quit your job” savings and make quitting a job you hate a priority,

Be sure to assign a specific amount to it every month until it is more than enough for you to find your way out.

These savings will give you the confidence boost you need to not freak out after you quit your job,

Helping you to go about your plans for getting a job that you actually like.

2. You Have No Other Skills Or Plans

can't quit job

Don’t even think of quitting your job if you haven’t got any extra skills or plans,

The reason I say this is because, yes, you might have quit your job to get that perfect job that you dream of.

But that might not really be the case, while it’s good to be very positive,

You need to consider that there might be a 40% chance that you might not actually get your dream job and you need to consider having a backup plan if this happens.

Get a sheet of paper and write down what your plans are, what job you would like to get,

What skills and experiences you have for that job, update your CV, add all relevant skills that may be useful with regards to that job.

Make back up CV copies for other jobs that you would be happy to do in case you can’t get your dream job,

This way you can devote a certain amount of time to looking for your ideal job and then if you aren’t able to get it,

You can start searching for jobs within your backup plan.

This is very important because, if you quit your job with the hopes of getting a particular job and that isn’t possible,

you might regret quitting your job in the first place.

Look for all the necessary skills that you need that will help you get that new job while you are still at your old job and

If possible, get a certificate or two in these skill sets, practice these skills until you are a master at it.

Then start applying for the job you want.

3. You Have No Motivation To Work Harder To Quit A Job You Hate

No Motivation To Quit a job you hate

Some people could probably leave their job right now and get their dream job right away,

But they don’t know this because they have already concluded that they probably won’t get it before they even tried.

You can’t get up every single day and complain about something that you hate and then go to bed at night without doing everything about it,

It will take a negative toll on you.

If you don’t like something, change it, if you don’t like a job,

work towards getting a job that you like and quitting the one that you don’t like,

life is too short for you to spend years doing something that you hate.

Make plans, tell yourself that you can do this, if it been done by someone before,

Then it can be done, you may not be the most knowledgeable, the smartest,

or even the best at what you do but that doesn’t mean that you can’t try to get there.

People who have achieved great heights, didn’t get there by chance, they worked while others slept, they kept on pushing when others quit, they just didn’t stop moving and you shouldn’t too.

You need to learn to motivate yourself and push yourself higher and higher because there wont always be people to push you,

you need to be your own source of strength,

learn to fight for yourself and learn to say no to quitting because nothing good ever came from it.

Its easy to get comfortable at a job that you probably don’t like just because there is no one to motivate you or tell you that you can do better than where you are.

I am that voice telling you now, you can do better,

and you will if you just keep trying one more time, till you get what you want.

4. You Haven’t Reached Out To People For Help

Reach Out To People For Help to quit a job you hate

I had a friend of mine who once told me a story about how he got a job,

He was let go from his previous job, didn’t have enough money on him and he was practically living off friends,

So worried about what he would do for the future.

One day, his friend took him to a bar and they started talking, he had previously told his friend his story about not having enough money,

Which is why he allowed him to come stay with him in the first place,

But what he hadn’t told his friend was that he was good at playing badminton.

After mentioning this to him, his friend told him that he actually knew a place looking for a sports coach,

He took him there the next day for an interview and voila, he got the job!.

He had been living with this friend for sometime without knowing that his friend could help him.

What’s my point? in life sometimes, all it takes is a sentence, a statement to the right person to change your life,

Instead of wasting time telling people how badly you have been affected and how much you are suffering,

Spend time telling them all the skills you have and all the things you can do.

That way, they can help you get a job and maybe even the one you want, no man is an island,

You can’t always do everything yourself, that’s why it is always important to make as many friends as you can.

Treat people nicely and talk to them as equals regardless of your position or theirs because you never know,

That janitor you gave a good home cooked meal at Christmas might have a special connection or skill that you need but don’t have.

Every single person that you meet has a something that they can do better than you,

Never look down on people because of their job or status and always learn to ask for help when you need it by asking the right questions.

5. You Haven’t Sacrificed Anything To Move From Where You Are

You Haven't Sacrificed Anything

You can’t expect to quit your job and immediately get your dream job if you aren’t willing to sacrifice anything for it.

If you want something, you need to go out there and get it,

you need to work for it, you need to sacrifice some things to get what you want.

Be it time, energy, strength etc, you might even be required to do things for free, all in a bid to get yourself to where you need to be,

You need to be willing to give up something in order to acquire something greater.

Having an open mind about putting in the work and giving up somethings,

can help you get a job quicker and probably even start your own business.

So ask yourself today, what are the things that if you stop doing them today,

Would help you quit your job in the very near future and start living the life that you want?

It can be anything, from stopping your Netflix subscription for some time to be able to save more money for when you quit your job,

It could be giving up those few new expensive dresses to enroll in a course that is very high in demand that could land you that dream job.

Look around you for what you could do to move from where you are and do it.

Conclusion

The simple truth is, you can still keep on going to that job that you hate day after day,

with no plans, telling yourself that you don’t have a choice, that you need to do it.

Or you could look for things that you could do while you are still at that job that you hate,

that could help you move from where you are, either way, the choice is yours.

Your job should not be your entire life, all your hope or your entire world,

It’s good to be attached to your job but not in an unhealthy way, always make sure that your life can still go on without your job.

That you can still live a life that you are proud of in the even that you are let go from your job.

You can quit your job if you want to, just make sure you are doing it the right way.

I hope the points i have made above will help you understand that your job isn’t your entire life but only a small part of it, and if you do loose it,

It isn’t the end of the world.
